| Palate / Taste | Bold and complex: dark fruit (berries), apple, hazelnut, oak spice; baking spices, molasses, vanilla bean, toffee; some citrus (orange peel, grapefruit) and a touch of heat commensurate with its strength. |
| Finish | Longish and warming; oak, pepper / spice, creamy sweetness persists; some tart fruit and a slight grassy or mineral edge in some reviews. A touch of smoke or barrel char in a few notes. |
Strengths & What Makes It Special
-
Cask strength & boldness: At ~57.7% ABV, it gives good punch, which many enthusiasts like. You can taste more of what the cask has given up.
-
Complex blend from multiple sources: Bourbons of varying age from several states give layers of flavour (fruit, spice, oak) that shift throughout the sip.
-
Dessert / bakery notes: Many mention sweet / spicy dessert‑type aromas (carrot cake, butterscotch, cream cheese frosting) which make it enjoyable for those who like sweet bourbons.
-
Good balance: Despite its strength, the heat is often reported as well‑handled, and the oak / spice doesn’t overwhelm the fruit & creaminess.
